The Cooperative provides Medical Health Insurance for our District.  La Feria ISD funds 100% of the Base plan for our employees.  A buy-up plan is available at the employee's expense.  All changes must be made only during the open enrollment period that runs from October 1 - September 30 of every year or during a "change of status" event.

TRS Comparability

Teacher Retirement System (TRS) Comparability 2015-2016

La Feria Independent School District has certified to Teacher Retirement System of Texas that the District offers employee health coverage comparable to HealthSelect and is in compliance with all other requirements of Section 22.004 of the Texas Education Code for the 2015-2016 period. 

Documentation and Reporting requirements:


  1. The District participates in Health Coverage through South Texas Health Coop.  Inter-local Agreement
  2. The schedule of benefits:  Base Plan , Buy-Up Plan
  3. Health Insurance Premium Rates: 2015-2016
  4. The number of employees enrolled in the health plan  as of March 2016 is: 539
  5. La Feria Independent School District did not have any difficulty completing the 2015-2016 TRS Comparability Report Form.
  6. Compliance statement: Based on the District’s comparability review, the health plans offered by La Feria Independent School District are comparable    to Health Select.   La Feria Independent School District has complied with the all requirements of Section 22.004 of the Education Code.
